A friend of many years and a next-door neighbors to Johnny Depp testified Wednesday that his ex-wife, Amber Heard, had confessed to him that the star had thrown a telephone at her and slapped her on the head inside their Los Angeles penthouse. Isaac Baruch, however, declared that he did notice any signs of abuse in Heard's facial expressions when the first time he met her was in the hallway and later in the sunlight-filled lobby. Baruch was second in line to be who was called to testify at Depp's trial on the basis of Heard's misleading portrayal of him as a victim. Depp affirms that an opinion article Heard wrote to The Washington Post in 2018 in part slammed the man. Heard declares herself "a public figure who embodies domestic violence" in her article but does not name Depp. But, the lawyers of his claim that this clearly refers to the restraining orders Heard received in May of 2016 in the days following Depp had told her that they wanted to divorce.
